Approaches to Successful Online Social Media Investigations

Social networking sites are virtual communities. As in any large community, criminal organizations, fraud, violent crime, and victimization exist. These virtual communities transcend traditional geographic and national boundaries. Investigators need to understand these communities along with the tools, tricks, and techniques to identify, track, and solve crimes.

Shellee Hale is the President of Camandago, Inc. a CAS – Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist (ATAB) and CEMS – Certified Emergency Management Specialist she focuses on Cyber Security and Cyber Warfare Threat Profiling. Camandago, Inc. is a Business Intelligence Company which combines high tech research, human intelligence, and skilled analysis to offer cutting edge expertise to their clients. Shellee is on the Board of the Washington Association of Legal Investigators (WALI), a member of Infragard, FBI-CAAA and NCISS.
Anthony Wooten is Director of Training Programs for Pacific Region Security & Intelligence (PRSI) is a U.S. Army veteran, Certified Instructor for the Department of Defense (DOD) Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Training Manager for several Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Collection and Analytical Certification Courses, and has logged over 3000 hours of custodial interviews, counterintelligence investigations, and strategic intelligence debriefing over a 16-year career. Though currently working as Director of Training for Pacific Region Security & Intelligence (PRSI), Anthony still provides a variety of consulting services, curriculum development, operational material, and instructional support to DynCorp International’s Phoenix Training Center in Alexandria, VA.
